Welcome
FFMT congratulates you on being awarded the Minority
Teacher Education Scholarship (MTES). As always, FFMT
hopes your semester is going well as you work closer
to joining the ranks of Florida’s educators.
Please remember that as a FFMT scholar, you are obligated
to teach in a Florida public school for the number
of years you receive the MTES or you must repay the
funds at an annual interest rate of 8 percent. For
a copy of the promissory note that you were required
to submit as a recipient, click here: Promissory
Note.
Your scholarship may be renewable, up to 4 semesters,
if you meet the following conditions each semester:
- Be enrolled in a teacher education program.
- Maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average.
- Maintain full-time status.
- Attend FFMT's mandatory annual conference.
In addition, it is your responsibility to update
your file with FFMT to continue to receive important
information regarding your scholarship. You can update
your permanent or preferred mailing address, phone
number, expected graduation date and other important
information online.
Scholarship Deferment
You may request a deferment for any semester if you will not meet the requirements, such as full-time enrollment. In order to request a deferment,
you must submit a Scholarship
Deferment Request Form. Submission does not indicate
automatic acceptance. You will be notified of approval
or denial via electronic mail and/or US Postal Service
mail.
Scholarship Extension
Due to a limited number of scholarships available,
it is important that FFMT is updated if there are
any changes to your graduation date. Although the
MTES is renewable for up to 4 semesters, you may be
eligible for additional funding, depending on the
length of your program. To be considered for a scholarship
extension, submit a Scholarship
Extension Request Form to our office. You will be notified of approval or denial via electronic mail and/or US Postal Service mail.
